In 2022, we took out the Digital Young Lions Gold for Australia…
and then the world.

Below is our entry from the 24 hour national brief: Grow awareness for Redfern Youth Connect to create sustainable funding by putting the voices of their youth front and centre.

Redfern Youth Connect is a Sydney youth centre that is crucial to the community and keeping kids off the streets. It acts a free after school care with tutoring and sports programs. It has hit hard times and needs funding but still remains the highlight of many of the disadvantaged youths who attend.

Insight.

Redfern Youth Connect invests in the future generations of First Nations’ youths, offering them the chance to excel.

At the same time, Redfern has undergone (and is undergoing) gentrification. People are investing in the neighbourhood, pushing up property prices and displacing Indigenous people in the process.

Let’s turn people’s commitment to investing in Redfern, into a commitment to invest in the future generations of First Nations’ youths in Redfern.

Idea.

Let’s get businesses and individuals to invest in the most valuable building in Redfern, one that will see a huge return on their investment in the form of pride, optimism and opportunity for the kids at RYC.

In this way, we’ll flip gentrification from damaging Indigenous culture to helping support the future of
First Nations youth.

Launching with a listing.

To launch the campaign, we’ll list the Redfern Youth Connect building on Domain at a ludicrous price - one that’ll have media outlets going crazy.

The listing will boast to be the ultimate inner city pad, peacefully located in the heart of Sydney’s most vibrant suburb.

However, we won’t be selling the building, we’ll be selling the opportunity to support this community of First Nations youth.
